Cricket catch-up - an update from the boys

04 May 2023

The Boys Cricket teams have got off to a good start which is discussed below in age order.

The 14A boys beat Framingham Earl by 86 runs after Ollie Longdon scored 36 and Jack Foreman 40 not out. James Howard took 2 wickets for 2 runs. Great stats all round here. Later that week, the 14A also won by 5 wickets chasing 120 with Ollie Longdon scoring 41 not out. In the 14B match, Freddie Smith top scored and the team managed a 6 wicket win.

The 15A and B teams have also performed well. Excellent batting performances from Ben Griffiths with 87 and Rikin Kumar with 60 runs. James Albery got 4 wickets for 16 and Ed Lewis 4 for 3, enabling the 15A boys to pick up a comfortable 72 run win.

U15Bs team put on a good fight against Framlingham ending 18 runs short of the 120-run target. Thomas Routledge with 20 runs and 4 wickets put in a very good all-round performance.

The u17A boys got their cup campaign off to a good start with a comfortable 6 wicket win against Gosfield in a T20 fixture.

The boys 1st XI beat Wymondham by 8 wickets with Jack Rowley taking 2 wickets for 15 runs and Lawry Williams scoring a brisk 59 not out. An exciting game to watch.

At the weekend, the boys 1st XI, suffered an early onslaught from Framlingham College who batted 120 after 18 overs. Lucas Innis (3 for 18) and Kyle Stevens with 2 for 22 managed to slow things down and the opposition finished on 200/9. A good effort against an impressive team.

The Norwich run chase struggled to get going with wickets falling at regular intervals. Only a fighting effort from Lewis Reeder with 43 runs gave the 1st XI a glimmer of hope, but a lower order collapse ended our hopes, and we finished 42 runs short.

The 2nd XI lost by 7 wickets with George Taylor scoring 53 not out.
