Congratulating The Charities Committee

15 December 2023

The 2023 - 24 Charities Committee is going from strength to strength with this year's committee being so great both in quantity and quality of its members; their successes have been expansive and we can't wait to see what the Lent Term holds for them...

Thanks goes to the L6 cohort for bring so enthusiastic from the very start - and to our co-chairs Jacob Stevenson and Billy Francis for leading the way.

This term the committee have held their first home clothes day which raised £1,143.94 for the Cancer Research UK which was the front runner by a long way with pupil votes across all tutor groups. Individuals have also participated in the Samaritans Paintathon, volunteered for the FONS ball working from 5.30pm-1.45am the following morning, and staffed a stand at the Keeping Abreast Christmas Fair at The Forum.

Additionally, pupils have this term also supported the Able2B Bingo night which raised £1905 for the amazing work that they do, plus this week we are holding a donation station in exchange for wearing a Christmas Jumper.

In addition, the Street Child emergency Home Clothes Day raised £1582.25 for the Morocco and Libya appeal and Brooke's Fundraising endeavours this term for the Blue Bear Freedom Charity equal £465.91 along with a gift appeal for the Benjamin foundation on Friday morning. Well done to all involved.

The Charites Committee are selecting the charity for next term very soon and are looking forward to the L6 Lent Term Dinner in February and Charity Dog Show in March.
