All About Athletics - Trinity Half Term

22 May 2024

The English Schools Athletics Track and Field Cup, held at UEA, marked the beginning of the 2024 athletics season, we faced off against some strong competition from The Perse and Thorpe St Andrews School.

The Junior and Inters teams, all placed in the top 5 in the meet. Then came the Norfolk County Championships, a recent addition to the athletics fixture schedule. Congratulations to every selected athlete who competed for the school. Norwich School was the only school in the region to enter athletes who were not affiliated with a club, which demonstrates the program's increasing strength.

Among the weekend's standout performances were Olly Bayfield, who placed 2nd in the 200m for under-17 boys, Olly Shipp, who placed 1st in the 200m and 3rd in the 100m for under-20 boys, Tom O'Neil, who placed 3rd in the 200m for under-20 boys, and Billy Francis, who placed 2nd in the high jump for under-20 men. Jennifer and Izzy Mardle, who won a number of medals, primarily gold in a variety of events, with hurdles being a particular highlight for both, Minnie Richardson claimed 1st in the under-15 girls' shotput, Niamh Mcauley finished 3rd in the under-15 girls' 1500m, Alex Singh finished 2nd in the under-15 boys' 100m, Rufus Snelling finished 2nd in the under-15 boys' long jump, Harry Croft, who won the U15 boys' 300m and high-jump events. We look forward to the second half of Trinity Term where 3 meets will take place across all ages.
