Team Spirit At House Challenge Day!

09 February 2024

On Friday 9 February, The Norwich Lower School enjoyed another fantastic House Challenge Day.

Despite the weather not being the most cooperative, the pupils had a brilliant day full of excitement, teamwork and friendly competition.

In the morning, the Lower School was buzzing with various challenges in each room, such as spaghetti towers, world challenges, balloon races and many more. Pupils ventured in their Houses from one challenge to the next eager to find out what awaited them.

The pupils seemed to particularly enjoy the indoor assault course for which great teamwork was crucial. In this challenge, pupils were paired up; one was blindfolded, the other tasked with leading them through the course. The blindfolded pupil was also required to carry a cup of water throughout the duration of the challenge without spilling it! And the added catch... the leader could only guide them with words! This challenge was not only incredibly invigorating for pupils but also relied on mutual sense of trust between the pairs.

In the afternoon, it was the Infants time to shine in the House Challenge. The challenges slightly varied from the rest of the school with activities such as the water cup challenge where pupils worked to gather as much water as they can in a water bucket, with added complications such as having to carry pass the water to one another over their heads!  This was enjoyed in the Reception Garden where the sun decided to show its face.

The scores were close, and it was only because of the teacher-based ‘Would I Lie to You?’ quiz that Conisford could get some extra points and win the day this year. All three Houses picked up some bonus points for excellent teamwork. It was another great opportunity for our U3 pupils to work with pupils in L2 and demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities.
