This morning, we held the first Year 3 Primary Maths Challenge at Norwich School. It was a competition created in collaboration with five Norfolk Primary schools; Coltishall Primary School, Priory Primary School, Sprowston Junior School, White Woman Lane Junior School and Norwich School.
40 pupils from across Norfolk had a wonderful time, working their way through three rounds of questions. Tangrams were kindly donated by the FONS and used in the first round. The second round tested the pupils' problem solving skills and after a short refreshment break, the competitors took part in an arithmetic, code-breaking round. It was lovely to see so many Year Three children enjoying the challenge of applying the mathematics they have learned, outside of a classroom setting. Congratulations to all who took part and to our winners:
1st Place: Coltishall
2nd Place: White Woman Lane
3rd Place: Norwich School
Special thanks goes to the competition organisers who worked hard to launch this competition. We are excited to see everybody again!
