Colourful Parrots and Hairy Tarantulas - Upper One Visit Amazona Zoo

22 September 2023

On Tuesday 19th September, the Upper Ones had an exciting school trip to Amazona Zoo in Cromer as part of their learning about the rainforests this term. They saw a large variety of tropical animals and learnt about the different layers of the rainforest that they live in. They particularly enjoyed watching the tapirs being fed and seeing the monkeys playing together!

After a long but exciting day of exploring, a few pupils share their thoughts on the trip;

"Today we went to Amazona Zoo, with Upper One. It was a windy, cold day. We went to the tropical house. Inside, I saw a hairy tarantula and a lazy caiman. Then we saw a cute mara!

My favourite animal was the spotted jaguar. Did you know the jaguar has the strongest bite of all the cats?" (Salvatore Milioto)

"Today, we went on a school trip. We saw a dotty leopard and some bright, pink flamingos. We had lunch and then we played in the big playground.

We saw a white owl! I loved the colourful parrots!!! We saw some hungry wart hogs." (Tamsin Cornell du Houx)

"Today we went to Amazona Zoo. I had a great time playing with the rest of Upper One. I saw lots of interesting animals. I tried to speak to the noisy and colourful feathered parrots, but they were not talking parrots. The anaconda was peacefully, curled up. It was a bit taller than me.

I learnt how to escape a fast crocodile. Just run in a zig-zag line. Overall, it was an epic day!" (Joshua Lewis)
