Archaeologists For The Day - A Trip To Sutton Hoo

27 June 2023

On Thursday 22 June, Lower One went on a very special trip to Sutton Hoo to learn more about their current topic, archaeology.

They began the day by exploring the artefacts which had been discovered and then by adventuring through a treasure hunt around the exhibition hall. The children also enjoyed dressing up in Anglo-Saxon clothing and got really into character (as seen in the gallery below)

Later in the day, the pupils became real archaeologists and used spades and brushes to discover their own artefacts. They had to gently scrape the sand away and plot their findings on a grid. It's safe to say that there are definitely some future archaeologists among Lower One!

Thank you to the wonderful staff of Sutton Hoo for such a wonderful day!
