Lower 3 Bollywood Workshop – A Celebration of Dance and Creativity
June 16, 2025
On Thursday 12 June, Lower 3 pupils took a vibrant journey into the world of Bollywood with a fun-filled workshop that blended music, dance, and artistic expression. The pupils dressed in traditional Bollywood attire, complete with dazzling costumes, jingling bells, and flowing scarves. All of the skills they developed were brought together in a routine to Ed Sheeran's "Sapphire”.
Alongside the dance segment, pupils showcased their artistic talents through a variety of arts and crafts activities creating their own rangolis with a range of materials. The creative process allowed them to immerse themselves in the cultural vibrancy of the theme.
To finish up the entire year group came together to showcase their dance skills. The workshop was not only a celebration of Bollywood but also an opportunity for Lower 3 to embrace creativity, build confidence, and experience the joy of performance. L3 Pupil, Ben, Shares his experience below.
"Today we had a Bollywood dance workshop which will help us with with our Indian Case study!
Firstly, we had to go barefoot and take our ties off. The teacher, Tina, then taught us some hand movments and gave us these dots called bindis to wear on our foreheads or hands or shirts.
Next, we were taught that the right hand side of any limb moves right first then left. We also learned some dance moves and the chorus.
Near the end we dressed up and I chose a waistcoat and the people who did not wear waistcoats wore skirts. We had to also wear a bell bracelet around our right ankle. At the end we took off our costumes and said goodbye and thank you to Tina. I had a fantastic time!"
