Introduction to our guest speaker John Tucker

John left Norwich School to pursue a career in the Army.  Commissioning from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst into the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, John has worked on a variety of military equipment ranging from tanks to helicopters. He’s visited twelve different countries from Arctic Norway, to the mountainous peaks of Nepal, to the hot desert plains of Afghanistan, and has commanded up to 60 soldiers on operations and 120 soldiers in barracks.

Having left the Regular Army in 2019, John continues to serve in the Army Reserve on a part-time basis. Recently promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, a role he’ll assume in January 2024, he’s been given the privilege of Unit Command (c400 soldiers).

Since leaving the Army, John has worked as a strategic consultant supporting Network Rail High Speed and High Speed 2 in asset management and operations management, and is now the Head of Future Support for a defence company called Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land who specialise in armoured and weaponised vehicles.

John has a passion for leadership, followership, and management and how these three attributes can improve the operational output of organisations or institutions.  John is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Manager, and is currently studying for an MBA in Strategic Leadership and Management.

We very much look forward to hearing from John on 26 November.
