Posy Walton
Rosamund Walton is a critically acclaimed professional soprano and choral conductor whose career spans many of the major concert venues across Britain and Europe. She has performed as a soloist and conductor with many renowned ensembles including the London Mozart Players and the English Chamber Orchestra. She still maintains a vibrant performance schedule as a soloist and conductor, appearing in everything from intimate recitals to full-scale oratorios and operas.
Rosamund studied as a postgraduate at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Her early vocal career was rooted in choral and sacred music, with engagements including the choir of St. Paul’s, Knightsbridge, and as Cantor at Westminster Cathedral. She later became the professional soprano for the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn. Rosamund has a strong affinity for contemporary classical music, touring extensively with the New London Chamber Choir and performing in cities around Europe.
She was fortunate to have access to incredible early stage and musical experiences. She was the recipient of a full scholarship at Trinity College of Music’s Junior Department, winning prizes for composition, improvisation, and singing. She was a principal with the W11 Opera under Nicholas Kraemer and Wayne Marshall, sang with the Rodolfus Choir and she also appeared with the National Youth Music Theatre at Sadler’s Wells and The Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon.
These formative experiences had such a positive impact on her life that she strives to share her enthusiasm and joy of singing and performing with all the young people that she works with. She has a fervent hope that they can carry the same passion for music through their lives that she has.
