Michelle Gooch
Miss Michelle Gooch MIScT has worked at Norwich School since 1992 (Norwich School is embedded in her bones like a stick of rock). Beginning by working across all three Science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), then adding in the responsibility of technician for the Lower School Science, when Year 3 used to come up to main school for their science lessons; all while studying for her A levels on day release at Norwich City College. In 2001, she seized the opportunity to become the lone specialised Physics Technician and continues in this absorbing role to date, advancing her understanding of science at every opportunity, most recently she completed an online course in Particle Physics from CERN. Using this extensive and broad experience, along with the school's ability to furnish so many opportunities, she has collaborated on a vast variety of external projects, outreach and events, for example, providing advice and resources for events such as the Norwich Cathedral Science Week/Fair's, Ogden Trust Physics, working with Anglia television to film updated versions of the Open University videos for Chemistry, coordinating the event where Astronaut Charles Duke,10th man to walk on the Moon, came to speak to school and later the same day to the public, leading events such as AstroDome that were open to schools in the Norwich area, working with PGCE students that have placements at the school and many more. The most exciting highlights are working with pupils on their individual Science Projects, including building bespoke equipment and even caring for animals, such as Piranhas and Hissing Cockroaches. Michelle adores anything to do with Science and aims to enthuse others at every opportunity too.
