Lower 1 Learn All About The Great Fire of London
March 4, 2026
Children from Lower 1 recently enjoyed an exciting and immersive trip to Strangers' Hall, where they stepped back in time to learn all about the Great Fire of London.
During the visit, the children took part in a hands-on experience that brought history to life. They discovered how the fire first started and explored what life was like in 17th-century homes. Through interactive activities, they learned about the dangers people faced and the importance of fire safety.
One of the highlights of the trip was making a house “safe” by identifying fire risks and thinking about how they could be prevented. The children also visited the kitchen, where they explored how fires were used for cooking and heating, and discussed how easily accidents could happen.
They were particularly fascinated by the different ways homes were lit in the past, including candles and open flames, and how these contributed to the spread of the fire.
It was a fun and engaging day that helped bring their learning to life, giving them a deeper understanding of this important historical event.
