Jonathan Stamp
Jonathan Stamp is the Director of Music and Organist of Norwich School. Originally from Nottingham, he began his organ studies with Timothy Uglow. After this, he was offered a scholarship to study with Henry Fairs at Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating with first class honours. During his studies he passed the examinations for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists, received the Corton-Hyde early music scholarship, as well as a bursary from The Macdonald Foundation.
He has previously held the post of organ scholar at both Norwich and Birmingham cathedrals as well as the role of accompanist to the City of Wolverhampton Choir and Director of Barton Turf Choral Society. Jonathan has also performed on organ and harmonium with both CBSO Youth and Norwich Philharmonic orchestras and collaborates with amateur and professional musicians alike. Recent solo appearances have included performances at Westminster Cathedral, St. Peter Mancroft, Norwich and Cromer Parish Church.
Jonathan features on recordings with The Birmingham Conservatoire Chamber Choir in a recording of works by Herbert Howells and John Joubert’s opera Jayne Eyre both on the SOMM label. Jonathan is a passionate music educator and revels in working with young people in his current role as Director of Music at Norwich School.
Aside from his music making, Jonathan also enjoys teaching people to fly at Norwich Airport.
