Rowing Report - Norwich Head and GB U19 Trials

24 February 2024

Norwich School rowers have been working incredibly hard over the half term break with U6 Pupil, Daniel Conway, entering the U19 GB Trials and the team ending the break with the Norwich Head.

The start of half term saw Daniel Conway attend the GB U19 Rowing Trials in Boston. 3 Time Trials with rowers from Shanklin, Dulwich and Latymer, saw Daniel move up the rankings with each race, finishing the weekend ranked midway through the group of 50 rowers. Spring Trials awaits in Nottingham.

With some mixed weather over half term for our training sessions, Saturday 24 February turned out sunny and calm for the Norwich Head. At last our J14s were able to get to race- having waited since November. 14 crews participated from the Senior Girls, J15s and J14s.

There were wins for the:

J15 Boys Double: James Howard and Joseph Hawkes

J15 Girls Double: Amelie Bandy and Amelie Ivie

J14 Girls Coxed Quad: Hannah Conway, Freya Dixon, Serena Chan, Bethany Yip and cox Bertie Rush

J17 Girls Singles: Cleo Gregory

In addtion to these Pots, we have Silver Medals for the J15 Coxed Quad who finished 2nd to Westminster School at Hampton Head: James Howard, Joseph Hawkes, Isaac Latter Casas, Mateo Vedrenne and cox Alex Morgan.

Well done to all who raced and we look forward to a busy half term of racing ahead of us!
