Sky Is The Limit For Bird Club With Their Exciting New Solar-Powered Camera!

The Bird Club were generously given £220 from Friends of Norwich School. With this, Bird Club spent £219 on a nest box with a solar-powered camera. The members of the club spent a couple of lunchtimes walking round the school site to find the best location, given that it needed to be in the sun, have wifi reception to transmit pictures, and be in a place where birds might want to nest. We decided that the south side of the Fleming building was the best spot, and the caretakers put it up there in March.

During the Easter holidays, blue tits started investigating the box and bringing in nest material. They have now been visiting regularly for several weeks, but don't seem to be great nest-builders as they haven't made a great deal of progress yet. We will continue to monitor.

Members of the bird club have an app via which they can see images and live footage from the box. The IT department have been tasked with the job of making these images more widely available, but are still working on a solution, but we will have to wait and see...
