Norwich School Pupils Past and Present Pay a Visit to Their Prep School

This week, seven Norwich School pupils (from Year 9 through to Year 13) returned to Town Close House Prep School for their annual assembly this morning - they talked about their time spent at Town Close and shared with the Year 7 pupils the opportunities which they have had since joining Norwich School.

For the first time ever, we also had Arj Puvanachandra (ON) join us via Zoom from Oxford University where he is studying engineering having completed his A Levels at NS last year.  Luckily we finished in time for Arj to get to his first lecture of the day!

"It is always a pleasure to return to Town Close and speak to the current Year 7s about my experience at Norwich School. I spoke to the pupils about the plethora of amazing opportunities that I am involved in and that they too could participate in if they came to Norwich School. I truly believe that there is a club that interests everyone at Norwich School and if there isn’t then you are able to create one! I spoke to pupils specifically about my involvement in the performing arts and all the amazing shows and performances I have been a part of. I am particularly excited for the Senior Dance Festival in a couple of weeks’ time at The Space. My love for performing begun at Town Close and hearing about rehearsals for this year’s musical at Town Close, The Lion King, made me feel extremely nostalgic as I thoroughly enjoyed participating in musicals myself during my time at Town Close such as Beauty and the Beast.

I know from personal experience that making the decision about which school to go to after Town Close can be very difficult and a daunting process. I was at Town Close for 10 years and so going moving to a new school was a big change for me. However, the move couldn’t have been smoother and hopefully we reassured any Year 7s who were feeling the same way that I did. Once again, it was thoroughly enjoyable seeing the Year 7 pupils today and I hope to see many of them in the Cathedral Close soon."

"On Tuesday morning, we visited Town Close School to deliver an assembly to current Year Seven pupils, talking about Norwich School. This is the second time I have participated in this assembly, and I enjoyed it equally to last year. I enjoyed the engagement of the pupils when hearing about the potential for co-curricular opportunities at Norwich, which I exemplified with the musicals, concerts such as Gala Night, MUN Society and many more. The questions the pupils asked afterwards showed that they had been listening closely and were interested in hearing more about many aspects of the school, including music. It was fantastic to be joined via Zoom by Arjuna at Oxford University, having transitioned from Town Close to Norwich, and then onto university. This provided a valuable longer-term insight into where Norwich School can lead people, and I hope I will be welcome to join via Zoom next year to relate my experience of moving to university. To those Town Close pupils we may have been encouraged to apply to Norwich today, good luck, and thanks to Mrs Sims for having us!"
