Meet the Red Gowns : An Interview with Pippa Garrod – Deputy Head of School, Partnerships and Admissions Lead

Continuing our series on this year's cohort of Red Gowns, we caught up with Pippa Garrod – Deputy Head of School, Partnerships and Admissions Lead...

Pippa is one of two Deputy Heads of School this year. She joined the school last year and says she found the transition “very welcoming,” especially due to the support from prefects. Pippa is studying three A-Levels: Chemistry, Biology and Geography. She is currently going through the UCAS application process alongside her studies and responsibilities as a red gown, and she hope to study Dentistry at university.

Outside of lessons, Pippa loves being involved in music. She is Head Chorister of the Norwich Cathedral Girls’ Choir and is also involved in the Chapel Choir, Chamber Choir and Gospel Choir as well as playing the clarinet. In conjunction with this, Pippa says she particularly loves being involved in student-run societies such as BAME Soc and FEM Soc.

Pippa’s role as Deputy Head of School involves working closely with the Admissions and Partnerships Departments This means she gets to attend all sorts of events, many of which are in London. In the first week of term alone, Pippa travelled to London for an awards ceremony and attended an Advisory Board Meeting for St Martins Housing Trust in Norwich. Pippa hopes to also offer UCAS advice for L6 pupils and continue with her Amnesty Volunteering as part of her Community Service.

Pippa’s favourite part of the school is the Reynolds Library as it is a great place to study and see people you otherwise might not.
