Meet the Red Gowns : An Interview with Mary Bowles – Deputy Head of School, Fifth Form Council and Whole School Events Lead

Next in our series on this year's cohort of Red Gowns is Mary Bowles. This year, Mary joins Pippa Garrod as Deputy Head of School.

Mary is the Whole School Events Lead meaning she is tasked with organizing duties and rotas. Mary is also the Fifth Form Council, an appropriate role for her as she joined Norwich School in Lower Five, the start of Fifth Form. Mary says she is really looking forward to working with the Fifth Form pupils and responding to their ideas on what to change around the school.

At Norwich School, Mary is heavily involved in Music. She plays the saxophone in Senior Wind Band and was in the orchestra for the school musical last year, Legally Blonde. This year, Mary is co-leading the School’s Senior Jazz Band as well as being a Deputy Head of School. Aside from Music, Mary was the General Secretary of the Model United Nations Society last year and she also enjoys Hockey and Orienteering. In terms of Academics, Mary is studying four A-Levels: Chemistry, Biology, Physics and French. She hopes to go on to study medicine and become a doctor.

Mary’s favourite place at school is the Refectory where she loves to eat lunch while chatting with her friends. She says, this year she is most looking forward to soaking up the limited time she has left in the Close with her friends.
