Close Conversations Podcast Interview with Norwich City football player, Tim Krul

Norwich School pupils were thrilled to secure an interview with Norwich City footballer, Tim Krul for an episode of their podcast, ‘Close Conversations’. This was later picked up in an article for ‘Pink Un.’ Read on to find out more from pupil, Max Nicolls.

“It was a great pleasure to welcome Tim Krul to Close Conversations.

Tim unconventionally broke through onto the English football scene aged 17 at Newcastle United.  He speaks to us of this path - his conversion as a child from an outside player to a goalkeeper as he ‘was the tallest outfielder left’ and his rapid progression after this positional metamorphosis.

We discussed the natural peaks and troughs, highs and hardships of his career, including fond memories of his international debut, a famous penalty shootout victory away at Tottenham in The FA Cup in front of 9,000 loyal fans and many more.

Moreover, we discussed Tim’s aspirations for after his playing career and he gave us some behind the scenes scoops on the ‘close-knit’ atmosphere amidst the Canaries squad this season and the toing and froing of pranks between the youthful members of the squad and their senior counterparts.

However, the most pertinent topic of our ‘Close Conversation’ was our discussion about the fickleness and everchanging opinions of football fans, in conjunction with social media as an easily accessible vehicle to express these views. Tim commendably talks of the real-life struggles and persisting effects of negativity albeit he mentions the importance of perspective and mentality.”

The Pink Un have redacted this podcast into a piece on this topic, which you can read here:
