We look forward to welcoming you to Cathedral Close.

Our Open Day aims to give a good understanding of how the school works and an idea of the diverse range of academic and co-curricular opportunities that we offer, as well as give a glimpse of the distinctive qualities and special atmosphere that make this a wonderful school.

We encourage you to explore the historic grounds through one of our pupil-led tours, to watch and try some activities and to talk to members of the school community who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

The Registrar, Miss Holly Sharples, will be available to answer any specific admissions questions, alongside the admissions team.

A timetable of activities will be available soon.

Why Norwich School?

Norwich School is an independent, co-educational day school for pupils between the ages of four and eighteen. Set in the Cathedral Close, the school’s special character nurtures confidence, self-expression, warm and lasting relationships and a deep appreciation of learning.

While we consistently achieve outstanding academic results, we believe that an education for life is about more than statistics. Our ethos is rooted in our beautiful surroundings, in the inspirational presence of the great Cathedral, in a remarkable history of almost 1000 years. But our true essence is recreated every day by the supportive atmosphere created by our inspirational staff, by our broad curriculum, by our excellent facilities and finally by the pupils themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should we bring our children?

Yes, we would encourage all members of the family to attend. Both Lower and Senior schools are open for viewing.

Is there parking?

No.  The nearest parking is the Adam & Eve car park or St Andrews. There are a number of other city centre car parks in which you can park and easily walk to the school. You can find the location of city centre car parks using the Norwich car park planner

What is the format?

The Senior and Lower schools will be open from 9.30am through until 12.30pm.

For the Senior School, please register with our pupils in the admissions tent, located on the Upper Green upon arrival. The nearest Cathedral gate is the Erpingham Gate.

The Head Master will give a presentation in the Senior School during the course of the morning - the time of which will be advertised on the website closer to the time. You are free to arrive and leave at any time during the morning but we recommend that you attend one of the Head Master’s presentations.

There will be a range of activities and lessons on show for you to enjoy, as well as teaching and admissions staff to speak with.

You may wish to explore the school using your map and programme, or take a pupil-led tour.

For the Lower School, please register at the Lower School located on Bishopgate. You will be greeted by staff upon arrival to register, then guided on pupil-led tours - re-joining staff at the end for refreshments and questions.

Will there be application forms to take away?

Yes. Although all application forms are downloadable from the website, too.

How do I register for the Open Day?

Please register your details using the online ‘register your interest’ form on this website.

Can I visit Lower and Senior School on the same morning?

Yes, of course.  If you arrive in good time, you will be able to view both schools - there are plenty of Prefects and staff members to direct you to the Lower or Senior schools.

I can't make the September Open Day, is there another?

Not before the closing date of December 10th for those under 16 years.  For Sixth Form the closing date is November 1st.

We host an Information to Sixth Form Evening late October solely for Sixth Form applicants.

Please rest assured that we are able to arrange a private school tour at any point during term-time.

We will hold more events to view the school in the New Year once the next round of Admissions is complete, late February.
