Will Pank and Seb Gotto are the RS Feva National Champions

05 June 2018

Norwich School pupils Will Pank (M5P) and Seb Gotto (L5P) win the PA Consulting RS Feva National Championship, May 30th 2018.

Will Pank and Seb Gotto were competing with the best sailors in the country as well as the Dutch National team too. The event was held in Weymouth and ran for four grueling days, with Pank and Gotto beating last year's winners.

In addition to the tension - the top six were only separated by 4 places after their top 5 races were counted - the weather conditions were challenging to say the least. Races postponed or cancelled due to insufficient wind, demanding wind strength on day 4 including choppy waters, constant wind shifts and course changes in the vast expanse of Weymouth Harbour.

Josh Means (L5V) and Grace Pank (U4P) also sailed with terrific skill and courage to secure 29th place out of 106 boats.

All four pupils sailed exceptionally well, all the more so when you consider they are used to sailing small single-handed boats rather than the RS Feva, which is a two-handed boat with a spinnaker.

Congratulations to all four pupils.
