Two Norwich School Pupils Shortlisted for Norfolk Youth Awards 2019

08 March 2019

Two Norwich School pupils have been shortlisted for the Norfolk Youth Awards 2019, organised by city centre youth charity, OPEN Youth Trust (OPEN). These awards highlight young people’s astonishing achievements and give them the recognition and encouragement they deserve. This is the second year that OPEN has organised these awards.

With nearly 100 nominations received, youth charities and young people have been nominated in eight different categories each celebrating a different aspect of achievement.

India Riordan (U6B) and Billy White (L6N) have both been shortlisted for the 'Arts' award.

Jackie Bircham, from New Anglia LEP, and one of the judges for the awards said: “The nominations received recount examples of ordinary young people with extraordinary commitment. We heard of young people taking the initiative to find new ways to serve those around them, alongside others who tirelessly and without complaint get on with the challenging situations they find themselves in - often resulting in the most inspiring examples to their peers”.

John Gordon-Saker, CEO for OPEN said: “The judging panel had a difficult task, but their shortlist has been chosen and the award winners and runners up will be announced at a glittering ceremony which will take place at OPEN on Wednesday 24th April 2019.  The event will be hosted by Joe Crowley, Ambassador of OPEN Youth Trust and presenter of The One Show and Countryfile, and promises to be an amazing opportunity to honour young people in Norfolk”.

Good luck to both India and Billy!
