Sixth Former into the final four of prestigious design competition

23 October 2017

International pupil Carson Wong (L6E) has been shortlisted for the final four of ‘The Next BMW Designer 2017’ competition. The competition, held in Hong Kong, is organised by BMW and invites applications from 10-18 years old to envision their future vehicle in Hong Kong.

Having beaten off competition from thousands of other applicants in the 16-18 category, Carson is now required to deliver a five-minute oral presentation and participate in a five-minute Q&A session at the final round, held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on the 4th November. The designs are to be judged on creativity, design and concept, functionality and BMW core values, as well as the presentation and Q&A. The winner of the competition will receive a book token and trophy as well as a free trip to Munich to visit BMW World.

In his submission Carson described his design:

Isetta, was a bubble car from BMW that was perfect for people, providing practicality and fun driving at a reasonable price. I’ve attempted to reinvent the Isetta into a futuristic and exciting vehicle that would be both pleasant to drive and well-suited for modular accommodation. Our modern world of limited urban spaced makes a small car that provided a spacious environment and adaptable for camping trips ideal. With modular chairs, the adaptability of front and back doors and a brilliant energy system, the Wunderbar 600 is a joyful car to live with in work and travel.
