Pupils Take Part in Young Analyst Competition

21 May 2021

15 pupils from Lower 6 took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry's "Young Analyst" competition on Thursday.

This is a national competition set by the RSC to test gifted pupil's skills in a practical chemistry context; where accuracy, technique and interpretation of results is key. This year the task was to determine the contents of three barrels of chemicals that had washed up on the banks of a river downstream from Allvale Chemical Company.

The teams of 3 students also had to be skilled at time management and teamwork in order to complete the series of experiments in the 3 hours allowed. Each team has now submitted their data and interpretations to the RSC and we await the results.
