Pupils perform with NCYO in Sheringham

16 April 2018

Fourteen Norwich School pupils, and one ON, performed at St Peter's Church in Sheringham as part of the Norfolk County Youth Orchestra on the 13th April 2018. The concert was a culmination of of a residential week of music with the NCYO.

The programme was ambitious in scale and content: Rossini’s Overture to William Tell; Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Greensleeves; Smetana’s Vltava (the Moldau); Copland’s Appalachian Spring (after an interval). The feedback from the Lord Mayor, Sheriff and Deputy Lieutenant was conspicuously warm, while the standing ovation from parents and other audience members made their approval clear! This prompted two encores, the first Copland’s Rodeo Hoe-Down and the second a reprise of the conclusion to the Tell Overture.

The following Norwich School pupils performed: Katja Ruda, Harry Fisher, Ashley Thorpe, Lakshana Puvanachandra, Herbie Hilyer-Ziegler, Robyn Latham, Elizabeth King, Amy Buck, Tad Davies (ON), India Riordan, Matthew James, Daniel Possener, James Thistlewood, Arjuna Puvanachandra and Raphy Sergent.

The Lord Mayor of Norwich, David Fullman, said it was a 'Brilliant, exciting, thoroughly enjoyable evening. I felt privileged to have been there.'
