Pupil Kitty Taylor completes 50 mile litter pick walk along North Norfolk coast

20 April 2018

Norwich School pupil Kitty Taylor (M5C) walked 50 miles over a three day period, in the Easter break. The walk took her along the North Norfolk coastal path and she picked up litter as she went.

Kitty did this in order to fundraise for a conservation and research trip to Madagascar this summer.

'I am fundraising for a trip I am embarking on this summer to Madagascar with ‘Operation Wallacea’. I will be collecting important data for resident scientists - first studying the declining lemur population in the dry forest, then the reef off Nosy B Island. This research will hopefully protect Madagascar; an incredibly diverse environment, from deforestation and coastal reef damage.'

The fundraising through litter picking came about as Kitty is passionate about protecting our planet. She writes on her blog (which can be found by clicking here) 'Waste, especially plastic is washing up on our shores more and more every year and I am trying to play my part in helping to stop this problem.'

Throughout the three day period Kitty also managed to pop back to Norwich to compete in the Lady Taverners Cricket tournament at UEA.
