Pupil Bethan Callow gains place with Aldeburgh Young Musicians

11 June 2018

Norwich School pupil Bethan Callow has gained a place with Aldeburgh Young Musicians for the 2018/19 academic year. Aldeburgh Young Musicians (AYM) is a junior conservatoire that holds weekend and holiday residential's that involve creative music workshops for young people aged 8-18. AYM was created to provide advanced musical training to young people.

Bethan Callow said:

"The first round of auditions was a solo performance in front of three assessors who listened to me play, gave feedback, asked me to play it again responding to the feedback and then asked me questions about my musical life. The second round of auditions were at Snape Maltings, with thirty other young musicians. The whole day was filled with workshops and masterclasses with professional musicians who assessed us throughout the day.

I felt nervous in the first audition, but during the second audition I felt so welcomed and enjoyed improving my tone during the flute masterclass. I am looking forward to improving my musicality, my technique and my confidence further and I can't wait to start on AYM in September 2018."

Congratulations to Bethan.
