ON, Alexander Sims, Returns to School to Talk to Pupils About Life as a Senior Project Engineer

01 June 2022

The second in our new series of Business Breakfasts took place on Wednesday 25 May when we were delighted to welcome ON Alexander (Ali) Sims back to school.

Ali is Senior Project Engineer at Aquaterra Energy, working to deliver renewable offshore projects involving wind and hydrogen. He delivered an excellent and highly informative presentation to a large group of pupils from L4 through to L6 about his career path, from his A levels to university experience, to first employment and a chance conversation leading to an exciting engineering career direction, and much more.

Our pupils were able to quiz him on everything from degree content to useful skills not learnt at school or university, to his thoughts about lots of major companies pursuing hydrogen as an alternative fuel and whether supply and infrastructure supports this decision. It was a fascinating session, appreciated by all the pupils. It gave our older pupils some food for thought as they begin their UCAS and employment research within STEM, and some inspiration for those lower down the school about the industry trends and issues to keep an eye on.

We look forward to working with Ali and his colleagues at Aquaterra again in the future!
