Norwich School Share Traders Competition 2018

35 teams of staff and pupils, from the 4th to 6th form, entered this years Norwich School Share Traders competition. The competition was run by the Economics & Business Enterprise Department and Gartley Society, sponsored by the Friends of Norwich School. 

Over the course of the competition, teams had to make decisions on how to invest their virtual £100,000 over the 5 months of trading. Decisions by teams are made using market data, supplied by Bloomberg, and entering their purchases and sales through the StudentInvestor web site. Teams are also encouraged to investigate potential companies to invest/sell by studying the news and predict impacts on individual markets.

    The pupil team to take first place, as well as first place as a 6th form team, were team 'TradingAhead'. Members included Norwich School pupils Joshua Alderton L6B, Will Amies L6E, Fergus Nash L6S and Ka Lun Lau L6R.

    Team 'LongLive69' came second place in the 6th form team category. Their members included pupils Archit Lal L6C, Louis Cann L6V, Srinivas Suresh L6B and Zayn Hassan L6V.

    'What are doing in my stocks?' came first place in the 5th Form category and also the best house team. Members included pupils Elliott Thompson U5S, Ryan Chan U5S, Sam Briggs U5S and Sam Todd U5S.

    'The 4 Profiteers' took 2nd place in the 5th form category.  Members included pupils Rueben Gopaul M5R, Daniel Tharian M5V, Debangshu Chakrabati M5C, Joe Beadman M5N

    'Best 4th Form Team' and to who took 2nd in the 'Best house team' category, were team 'Leopardinvestors'. Members included pupils Albert Pinching U4P, Alistair Wylle U4P, James Byrne U4P and Oliver New U4P.

    The 4th Form team to take 2nd place were 'Wall Street Wonders'. Members included pupils Adam Johnson U4C, Max Clayton U4S, Oscar Taylor U4C and Sam Pestell U4R. 

    The top 3 Staff Traders for the 2017/18 academic year were: 

    1. Gipfeli Kapital - Mr Croston
    2. MantonFamily - Mr Manton (With help from youngest son)
    3. Mr Large - Mr Large

    Following an assembly presented to the School by the Gartley Society, the Economics & Business Enterprise Department and Gartley Society are now accepting entries for the 2018-2019 competition. Open to pupil teams from the 4th to 6th form.
