Last week, Norwich School pupils were excited to investigate the explosive properties of hydrogen at the school's lunch time science club, lead by chemistry teacher Mrs Pywell.
Having created the gas using a chemical reaction between magnesium and hydrochloride acid, pupils lit the fuse, stood away from the ballon and waited for the bang.
The session finished with a spectacular demonstration by Dr Bendall, Head of Chemistry, who demonstrated the power of the explosion when oxygen and hydrogen are combined, forming water.
