Norwich School pupils receive offers from prestigious universities

19 February 2018

With several weeks still to go before the offer deadline, many of our Upper Sixth cohort are already celebrating offers from their chosen universities and the school is delighted by the variety of their chosen paths. From Engineering, Fashion, Veterinary Science and Pharmacology, to Anthropology, Psychology and Linguistics, a big focus is placed on supporting pupils in following the path that is right for them and the range of offers received is fantastic.

Seven pupils have received offers from Oxbridge (five from Cambridge and two from Oxford) and many have been offered places from top universities including Bristol, Durham, Nottingham, Leeds, Edinburgh and Exeter. Entry to these universities remains incredibly competitive, so this represents a terrific accomplishment.

Head Master, Steffan Griffiths, is pleased with the variety of courses being applied to. “Norwich School is focussed on ensuring that each individual is encouraged and equipped to go on the journey that is right for them when they leave Cathedral Close. Our pupils have secured attractive offers on an exciting range of undergraduate courses.”

The school’s involvement in initiatives such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Young Norfolk Sports Academy, Community Service and the Gather Arts Festival, all offer the extra-curricular opportunities that many universities look for.

Craig Hooper, Head of 6th Form, said “The range of offers received is fantastic news for our pupils who worked hard to prepare themselves for the application process. These offers are the culmination of dedication from the pupils and enabled by the expert tuition of their teachers. The school’s strong pastoral care is also an important factor in helping pupils choose their path.”

The school was named ‘one of the best British schools representing the arts’, by School House Magazine in 2017 and has recently been selected as the ‘East Anglian Independent Secondary School of the Year’ by the Sunday Times Schools Guide.

Congratulations to all those that have received offers so far and good luck for the remaining weeks!
