08 February 2019

Norwich School pupil, Billy White, has been shortlisted for the Norfolk Youth Awards 2019 in the Arts category. The award ‘recognises outstanding achievement in an artistic field’ and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on 24th April at the Open, Norwich.

Over the last 2 years, Billy has been involved in numerous projects with the National Centre for Writing (NCW), has been a Youth Ambassador, a writer with the inaugural National Saturday Writing Club in conjunction with UEA as well as currently being a Young Arts Professional at the NCW.

In May he will be part of a team delivering a ‘Festival in a Day’ with the theme of cultural activism as part of the 2019 Norfolk and Norwich Festival. Billy will be travelling to the Krakow Literary Festival as part of this programme.

The award also recognises Billy’s independent writing skills as he has written a two-man play, ‘Blackjack’, which he will also direct and act in during Gather19 at the Puppet Theatre. It is hoped that the play may be performed in other venues too with the support of the NCW.

Congratulations to Billy.
