Norwich School orienteers represent Norfolk in the national inter-counties final

03 July 2017

On Saturday, 6 pupils jumped in a minibus straight after sports day, for a 6 hour journey to Northumberland. They were part of the Norfolk orienteering squad, who had qualified for the national inter-counties final.

The standard in the final was always going to be high, with other counties able to field several British champions. Our best individual result came from Josh Kohler, who led his course for most of the day before finishing in a very impressive 4th place. On their various courses, James Price came 8th, James Thistlewood 9th, Willam Blyth Bartram and Benji Tremelling both 10th and Patrick Thomas 16th. Overall, Norfolk finished 6th out of 7 counties, but given that this was Norfolk's first ever appearance in the final, qualifying in the first place was the major achievement.

With most of the team young enough to compete for several more years, they will be looking to build on this experience next year.
