Norfolk Arts Awards 2017

25 October 2017

Norwich School was delighted to be strongly represented at the Norfolk Arts Awards, part of the annual Hostry Festival, on Friday 20th October.

Director of Music Mr Allain and Associate Director Miss Ziegler were nominated for the Dr Frank Bates Dance and Musical Theatre Award for their part in the school’s 2016 musical Sweeney Todd. Although the prize was won by the Sound Ideas Theatre Company for their 2016/2017 productions the nomination for such an esteemed award is fantastic credit for all their hard work, as well as that of the cast and crew which made the musical such a success. Tickets are still available for this year’s school musical We Will Rock You, directed by the school’s Head of Vocal Studies Posy Walton, here.

The school were also delighted that ON Katie Cary and current pupil Megan Blair (U6P) were chosen to perform solos at the red carpet event, as well as five members of the school singing in a joint choir as part of a project with the Total Ensemble Theatre Company, who rehearse in the school’s Blake Studio.

Congratulations must also be given to Lucy Farrant who won The Education and Community Award for her work with the Young Norfolk Arts Trust (YNAF), of which Norwich School was a founding partner and still does much to support. Young Norfolk Arts Trust promotes and celebrates the creativity of all young people in the County by offering opportunities for them to participate in a wide variety of art forms in ways and at times which suit them.
