New Impressions opens with talk on Renaissance books and private view

26 January 2018

New Impressions, the latest exhibition to be shown at our Crypt gallery, opened on Thursday 25th January with a private view.

New Impressions is part of the Unlocking the Archive project run by academics in the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, which aims to open up the Renaissance book collection at the Norfolk Heritage Centre to new audiences, in new ways. The project was described by the internationally-renowned designer Sean Perkins (North Design) as 'a fantastic idea beautifully executed and brought to life'.

This free exhibition brings together new work by several Norwich and Norfolk based designers, inspired by the spectacular collection of Renaissance books held in the Norfolk Heritage Centre. These exciting works of print-making and graphic design celebrate the innovative ways in which the early printed book was used to disseminate knowledge, engage readers, and encourage exquisite artisanal craftsmanship.

Come along to the Crypt Gallery to see for yourself the different ways in which Norwich's centuries-old literary treasures can still inspire our city's creative community today.

Where: Crypt Gallery, Cathedral Close, Norwich School, NR1

When: 26th January - 10th February, Tuesday - Friday 1-4pm, Saturday 11-3pm
