International Competition for Young Debaters Success

22 February 2021

Lower 5 pupils' Georgia Hodgson and Summer Nesbit finished second out of 28 teams in their regional round of the International Competition for Young Debaters on Saturday.

The International Competition for Young Debaters is an annual competition for debaters in Year 10 or below. ICYD uses the British Parliamentary debating format.

Between January and April, regional rounds will take place across the UK, alongside national rounds in countries around the world.

On speaker points alone, Georgia came first equal, and Summer third. This was their first debating competition, and they were a year younger than much of the competition. It's a brilliant achievement. They will go through to the Final in April.

Well done Georgia and Summer!
