ON Freddie Steward Awarded Man of the Match Following the Autumn International at Twickenham

16 November 2021

On Saturday 13 November 2021 ON Freddie Steward charged through the lines to score the first try during the Autumn International match at Twickenham Stadium. He went on to be awarded Man of the Match – a title which was well-deserved after such a sterling performance.

A number of our Norwich School pupils were lucky enough to be at the match, so we caught up with Oli Clark (U4) who said:

"I was very lucky to get a ticket to go to Twickenham on Saturday with my dad and brother.  It was so exciting to go as it was the first time I had watched England play and we were really looking forward to watching Freddie Steward. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric with thousands of people hoping for an England win. It was so inspirational to watch an ON play for England, Freddie was brilliant, scoring a try and being made man of the match. I can't wait for my next rugby match!"

Fraser Evans (M5) added:
"It was great to be at packed Twickenham to watch England beat Australia on Saturday, and amazing to see Freddie score such a wonderful try right in front of us. Marcus Smith held the ball perfectly until Freddie cut the perfect angle to break into back field, before stepping Kurtley Beale for the try. The noise and celebrations were unbelievable, and it was inspiring to see a recent ON score his first try for England, play so well all afternoon and right be awarded Man of the Match at the end. #GoFreddie"

As a School community we could not be more proud of Freddie and we look forward to continuing to watch him score many more amazing tries for England! As Fraser says #GoFreddie!
