In March 2019, Norwich School submitted a planning application for replacement dining and new teaching facilities, together with improved access and open spaces on its Bishop’s Palace Lawn site in Norwich’s Cathedral Close. The proposal was refused by members of Norwich City Council’s Planning Committee in July 2019 (planning application reference: 19/00403/F), against officers’ recommendation of approval.

The school has since revisited the scheme with a new team of independent consultants and with officers at the Council. We have looked specifically at how we may deliver an improved landscaping proposal and increase our city centre replacement planting offer to address directly, members’ concerns on the biodiversity, amenity and townscape impacts of the scheme.
