Boat Club Training Camp – Brive 2017

25 April 2017

76 boys and girls from the boat club and 10 members of staff together with two boat trailers and a box trailer travelled to the Lac du Causse, in Brive.  Home for the week were 21 log cabins perched on the side of a hill overlooking the picturesque lake.  All the year groups were committed to train twice or three times per day (the latter being more often the case), in near perfect windless sunny conditions.

Every athlete was tested both physically and mentally over the week and the 1st 8+ technical and power application were continually monitored by the new telemetry system – thanks must go to the Norwich School friends for funding it.

The highlight of the week was a boat club regatta, where we managed to boat all 76 members of the club and stage a huge race off over 1000m.  Overhead footage from the races was recorded from Mr Williams’ new toy; a drone, and the spectacle and atmosphere from the close racing was immense, many of the staff commenting on the buzz around the boating area after the race.

The camp was a huge success and thanks must go to all the staff involved in ensuring such a positive experience to our boat club members.

Congratulations must go to the following U5 and M5 boys who have qualified to represent the Eastern Counties in the prestigious Junior Inter-Regional Regatta to be held on Saturday 22nd April.
