Amazing Response to Charity Book Drive

19 April 2022

As part of our World Book Day Celebrations back in March, Norwich School Library organised a Book Drive for the literacy charity Children's Book Project.

Pupils were invited to bring their nearly new children's/Young Adult books (any genre of fiction and any non-fiction titles) to the Undercroft Library to donate to the scheme.

One in four disadvantaged children across the UK has fewer than ten books of their own at home, and one in eight has none. The Children’s Book Project directly tackles this ‘book gap’ and gifts donated books to targeted communities. Schools and community groups host celebratory book gifting events at which children are invited to choose a book to take it home and keep. The charity expects to gift upwards of 70,000 books this year.

There was a fantastic response from pupils and their families, with a huge number of books now collected from School to be donated. Thank you to everyone who took part!
