Academy helps pupils to selection for Sussex County Cricket team

07 August 2017

Norwich School pupils Charlie Rogers (U5R) and Harry Williams (M5N) have been selected to play for Sussex County Cricket Club’s U16 team in a game against Hampshire U16s next week. Both players have been selected as a direct result of the cricket academy which was launched in June as a partnership between Norwich School and Sussex County Cricket Club. The limited overs game will take place next Tuesday at Sussex's ground at Blackstone.

Rod Bunting, Assistant Director of Sport at Norwich School, is delighted that the boys have been selected. “This is the first stage of our partnership with Sussex and we hope that we will be sending many more of the academy boys and girls for similar games in the future,” he said.

Applications for the academy are still open to both boys and girls aged between 10 and 16 years from across East Anglia. The aim of the partnership is to provide a route for talented cricketers in the area to be involved in an elite development programme, which will in turn lead on to them becoming first-class cricketers or international women’s cricketers. They will benefit from top level coaching and support at the impressive facilities at Norwich School. Trials will be in September with the academy starting in November.
