Over the February half-term holiday, 8th Norwich Scouts were very busy on a trip to the Yorkshire Dales, taking part in the Baden-Powell Anniversary Challenge, an off-road biking day in Thetford forest and taking part in an RYA Power Boat Level 2 course. Following a recent audition on her cello, Colette Maxwell-Preston L4P has gained a place in the Under 12s National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain.

Today's Making Musicians recital was given by Norwich School pupil James Thistlewood (Trombone) and Esther Skipp (cello) in Norwich Cathedral.

On the 7th February, Norwich School pupils performed at the annual UNPLUGGED event at the Norwich Playhouse.

Norwich School Choral Society and the internationally renowned chamber orchestra London Mozart Players will be performing at a concert in St. Andrew;s Hall on Sunday 3rd March at 7,30pm. Tickets are free to U21s.

Artist Heather Nicholas is currently exhibiting her work, New Directions, in the School Crypt Gallery. All proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to the new Priscilla Bacon Hospice.

Norwich School has been working with the Dying Matters organisation to help encourage constructive discussion around the issues of death and bereavement.

Norwich School pupil, Billy White, has been shortlisted for the Norfolk Youth Awards 2019 in the Arts category. The award ‘recognises outstanding achievement in an artistic field’ and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on 24th April at the Open, Norwich.

Norwich School is delighted to feature in the ‘top 100 schools by A level results’ list published by the Department of Education for the 2017/18 academic year.

The school celebrated the start of Chinese New Year today, with various activities taking place to raise awareness of Chinese culture.  The morning started with a memorable assembly led by pupils Jeffrey Cheung & Aiko Leung. They shared some traditional Chinese stories, before singing a New Year celebration song whilst dragons danced in the Nave of Norwich Cathedral and the school community clapped along. At the end of the assembly some of the pupils handed out fortune cookies.

Norwich School pupil, Madison Kelly, excelled at the Eastern Counties 2019 Indoor Championships at Lee Valley, 3rd February 2019.

On Friday 1st February, Norwich School was announced winner of the ‘whole-school community initiative of the year’ at the prestigious Tes Independent School Awards 2019 in London. The co-educational school based in Norwich Cathedral Close, was congratulated for its ‘broad and deep’ outreach programme across both the Lower and Senior Schools, involving pupils aged 4-18.

On Saturday 19th January, Norwich School inaugural Making Musicians New Sounds from Norwich School concert took place.

On Saturday 26th January, the Norwich School team won the Independent Schools Mock Trial Competition at the Crown Court in Birmingham. The competition, run by Young Citizens, is an excellent opportunity for pupils from across the UK to learn about the criminal justice system whilst working on cases written by partners in the legal profession.

Norwich School pupil, Ben Hawes, has qualified to represent Norfolk and Norwich School in the English Schools Table Tennis Individual championship this Spring.

On Saturday 16th January, after weeks of preparation, the school's U14 and U19  squads travelled to Stanborough School in Welwyn Garden City to compete in the Regional Round of the National Schools Netball competition.

Norwich School pupils in L5 had a inspirational day at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts on Thursday 24th January. Creative workshops were carried out with the gallery artist educators and the Art & Design staff at the Sainsbury Centre.

For pupils in Lower 5 who are studying Classical Civilisation, a study of Sparta forms one of their units. Recently Mr Plater's class experienced making their own Sparta shields, as well as learning about how Spartan's would have used them.
