This year's Gather Festival got off to a great start last week, with performances, exhibitions and a festival of writing.

Upper 4 met on Friday 14 June for their annual Carnegie book award Shadowing event.

On Monday 17th June, musicians from throughout the senior school gathered in the Chapel to take part in the annual Deveson Music Prize. The competition is for instrumentalists and singers and there were some outstanding performances, with pupils performing a wide variety of pieces.

The guest adjudicator was Stacey Kurtz Campkin, who has worked in schools and The Royal Opera House in roles which focussed on developing music in the community.  Her current role is Head of Aldeburgh Young Musicians.

The work of 5 Norwich School pupils, Avalon Thursby, Daisy Campbell, Jasmine So, Maisie Cruikshank and Megan Tusting, has been shortlisted in The Norfolk Art & Design Competition.

Norwich School pupils Bethan Callow (flute) and Arjuna Puvanachandra (trombone) performed in the South Transept of Norwich Cathedral as part of the Making Musicians developmental arts enrichment programme last week.

The school's elite athletes have had a busy few days, with the East Prep Schools Championships in Bedford on Friday, followed by the Norfolk Schools Championships at UEA on Saturday. In Bedford, the junior athletes had to cope with adverse weather conditions which saw some events cancelled, but this didn't stop them recording our best ever set of results, with 3 wins, and 4 athletes qualifying for 6 different events at the national finals.

During the May half term, the Spanish department took 21 pupils from U4 on a 4-day study trip to the beautiful capital city of Spain, Madrid. The pupils stayed in a youth hostel and got a real taste of Spanish culture and life including food, dance and entertainment.

Middle 5 pupils have been enjoying a Fine Art trip in Cornwall over the half term break. Pupils spent time at the beaches sketching, sculpting and photographing.

12 Norwich School Senior boys travelled to Belgium in May, on a quest to get as much race experience as possible on the 2000m multi-lane course at the 100th Ghent International Regatta.

On Sunday 19th May, Intermediate Concert Band were invited to play at the Bishop's Garden Open Event in aid of Save the Children.

Norwich School pupils Nat Saunders and Emily Clarke, both Lower 4 sport scholars, played in the U12 Hockey Finals at Nottingham on Saturday 18th May. 

Nat and Emily were playing for their club, Harleston Magpies. The team had a great day, finishing as runners up in the National Finals, losing out in a 1-0 final against Sevenoaks.

In April, 40 children from schools across Norfolk gathered on a cool, windy day at Eaton Golf Club for the Norfolk Schools Golf Championships. Norwich School was represented by Harvey Fisher, Joe Ford and George Somerville.
