On Sunday 19th May, Intermediate Concert Band were invited to play at the Bishop's Garden Open Event in aid of Save the Children.

Norwich School pupils Nat Saunders and Emily Clarke, both Lower 4 sport scholars, played in the U12 Hockey Finals at Nottingham on Saturday 18th May. 

Nat and Emily were playing for their club, Harleston Magpies. The team had a great day, finishing as runners up in the National Finals, losing out in a 1-0 final against Sevenoaks.

In April, 40 children from schools across Norfolk gathered on a cool, windy day at Eaton Golf Club for the Norfolk Schools Golf Championships. Norwich School was represented by Harvey Fisher, Joe Ford and George Somerville.

Joanna Asher (Bassoon) and Adam Chillingworth (Organ) performed at the developmental arts enrichment programme Making Musicians concert in the South Transept of Norwich Cathedral on Thursday 16th May.

U6 pupils had a great day of celebrations on Wednesday 15th May, their final day before study leave.

Dr Suzie Imber, Associate Professor of Space Physics and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Students) at the University of Leicester, gave 6 talks to more than 500 school pupils, teachers and members of the public whilst she was visiting Norfolk last week.

In April 2019 Norwich School pupils, Harry Peachment and James Hill, were awarded the Queen's Scout Award. Harry and James joined cubs together, aged 7, over 11 years ago. The boys set out at the end of their Middle 5 year to try and complete all of the top awards in scouting. They completed this mammoth task by achieving the most prestigious award in scouting, the Queen Scout Award, the highest youth award achievable in the scouting movement in the Commonwealth. It is the ultimate goal of a progressive award scheme and is achieved by completing a rigorous set of activities of which the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award is one.

On Saturday the 12 May, Norwich School J14 girls and J14, 15 and 16 boys competed at Bedford Regatta. With the race programmes spanning 11 hours, the crews raced throughout the day. There was some tremendous racing from across the squads, with many pupils racing multiple times throughout the day, some as much as 7.  The day was also the first experience of side by side racing for our keen J14 boys and girls.

On Sunday 12th May, 28 skiers from both the Lower and Senior schools took part in the Eastern Region Ski Association School Championships, held in Ipswich. This was one of the biggest entries the school has put in, with 8 teams across 12 year groups representing Norwich School.

A Sports Day hosted by Norwich School for Norfolk secondary schools saw 500 pupils attend a day of competition at UEA.

Five pupils from Norwich School who took part in an outreach creative writing project were invited to read their work at a regional Dying Matters conference.

Eighteen Upper Sixth English Literature pupils visited Milton's Cottage in Chalfont St. Giles in Buckinghamshire on Friday 3rd May, with Dr Farr and Mr Murray. This trip has become something of an annual pilgrimage for Norwich School Sixth Form pupils, marking the end of the two-year A-Level course.

At the Norfolk and Suffolk Young Enterprise finals on Wednesday 1st May, Norwich School were well represented. Congratulations must go to team Iscenic who took the judges’ Special Award and now go through to the Regional Finals later this year. Congratulations also to Norwich School team Lux, who won the judges’ Environmental Awareness Award.

Over Easter, the Norwich School Boat Club travelled to Brive, France to take part in their annual training camp. With Nationals just around the corner, it was the perfect opportunity for all crews to gain vital time on still water and to develop as a squad. Pupil, Kit Whitaker (M5R) reports on the trip.

Norwich School 1st XI boys hockey team competed in the Notts Sport Boys Schools Championships Finals at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on the 2nd and 3rd of May. This was the first time the school had reached the last four schools nationally in its history.
