Last week, the 2017 Norwich School Musical, We Will Rock You, ran for 5 performances at Norwich Playhouse. Based on Queen’s greatest hits, the show wowed the audiences, with a fantastic mixture of song and dance.

Last week on the 7th November, the High School's Choir Festival was held at St Andrews Hall, in which 300 students from across the county came together to produce a night of beautiful music for the choristers to cherish.

Last night pupils, parents, ONs and staff were informed and challenged by the leadership journeys of both Lord Dannatt and John Drake, in the Leaders in Conversation event held in the Blake Studio.

Last week the U16 and U19 Netball teams both won the title of County Champions in their respective age groups, and will progress to the Regional tournament in January.

Making Musicians is a series of 9 recitals given by pupils from Norwich School and occasionally other local schools. It is an opportunity for exceptional musicians to perform in front of an audience in an intimate, but impressive setting. The next performance is on Thursday 25th January 2018 at 1.10pm. Admission is free and all visitors to the Cathedral are welcome to attend.

This year’s school musical, Norwich School Presents: We Will Rock You, is now into its last few rehearsals, with the first performance just days away. After 8 weeks of hard work the cast are making their final preparations for a five show run at the Norwich Playhouse, from Wednesday to Saturday next week.

Almost 100 adventurous pupils, as well as some parents and staff, braved the burning coals to raise money for charity. All of the pupils found the experience a powerful and invigorating experience, and thankfully everyone came away from the daunting experience without any injuries, with many going back for a second or third walk!

On Thursday 9th November, Norwich School welcomed a delegation from the Chinese State Sports General Administration Social Sports Centre to introduce Dragon & Lion Dancing, Roli-Ball and Health Qigon to Norfolk. The Lord Major of Norwich, Councillor David Fullman, was at the event to welcome the delegation and join in with the activities.

The U14 Girls hockey team had a very early start on Tuesday as they travelled to represent Norfolk in the Eastern Region Championships, and attempt to qualify for the National Finals.

This morning, over 500 school children from 20 schools across Norfolk and Suffolk and Cambridgeshire gathered at the Open in Norwich for the second Michaelmas Mathematics Symposium. The event, organised by Norwich School, aimed to inspire, educate and broaden the horizons of GCSE and A Level mathematicians in Norfolk. This year, Dr James Grime spoke on various elements of code-breaking, including discussing the inner workings of an Enigma machine, which he demonstrated an original WWII model stage! Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter discussed abuses of statistics in the media - the "Click-Bait" culture. Both talks were inspirational and thoroughly enjoyed by pupils.

On Saturday 4th November, Norwich School pupils were given the opportunity to experience the film industry first-hand as areas of the site were turned into a film set for an upcoming drama, Surveillance.

Alex Illing (U4E) travelled to Blackpool at the weekend to compete in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Grand Finals. The ISTD is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards and the Grand Finals are well regarded as a national dance competition.

International pupil Carson Wong (U6E) was awarded 2nd Runner Up in ‘The Next BMW Designer 2017’ competition. Organised by BMW in Hong Kong, the competition invites young designers aged 10-18 to envisage their future vehicle.
