Norwich School pupils were lucky enough to receive a visit from professional storyteller Kevin Graal - right in the heart of in National Storytelling Week (26 Jan-2 Feb).

On Saturday 26th January, the Norwich School team won the Independent Schools Mock Trial Competition at the Crown Court in Birmingham. The competition, run by Young Citizens, is an excellent opportunity for pupils from across the UK to learn about the criminal justice system whilst working on cases written by partners in the legal profession.

For pupils in Lower 5 who are studying Classical Civilisation, a study of Sparta forms one of their units. Recently Mr Plater's class experienced making their own Sparta shields, as well as learning about how Spartan's would have used them.

Last week, Norwich School pupils were excited to investigate the explosive properties of hydrogen at the schools lunch time science club, lead by chemistry teacher Mrs Pywell.

 The Sunday Times has published their Parent Power Schools Guide, placing Norwich School again as the top performing independent secondary school in Norfolk and Suffolk, with a ranking of 90th in the overall table for independent secondary schools in the country.

Dave Rudden, author of the Knights of the Borrowed Dark trilogy, visited Norwich School on Monday 19th November, to speak to Lower 5 about his books and the creative writing process.

On Tuesday 13th November, Norwich School hosted the third Norfolk Mathematics Symposium. The event saw 18 schools from across East Anglia gather to hear from three influential speakers, as well as have the opportunity to ask questions.

On Friday 9th November, the school gathered in Norwich Cathedral for the annual Remembrance Service to commemorate those who have given their lives in the defence of our country. Also on Friday, Norwich School opened its Armistice exhibition 'All Fades to Silence' in the Crypt Gallery. The exhibition  is a collaboration between pupils studying Design, English and Creative Writing. The exhibition is free to all and is open until Saturday 17th November: Monday - Friday 12-4pm, Saturday 11-3pm

The entire school gathered this morning to remember our most famous ON, Horatio Nelson, at the annual Trafalgar Day Service. Even our youngest pupils (aged 4) gathered around the statue of Lord Nelson and stood in silence as trumpeters played the Last Post and Reveille.

Norwich School pupil Amy Buck (L6P) has been selected for the Rank Leadership Programme 2018. 

The programme accepts around 40 pupils each year from across the UK. Pupils are put forward by their school for having 'outstanding leadership potential'.

35 teams of staff and pupils, from the 4th to 6th form, entered this years Norwich School Share Traders competition. The competition was run by the Economics & Business Enterprise Department and Gartley Society, sponsored by the Friends of Norwich School.

It is a historic day for Norwich School, as we welcome pupils from as young as 4 years old for the first time. The extension of the Lower School, to include facilities for children in reception, year 1 and year 2, means that the school, set in the beautiful grounds of Norwich Cathedral, is now buzzing with boys and girls from aged 4 through to 18.

At a time when GCSE exams are being changed to make subject content and exams more challenging, there have been many individual successes stories at Norwich School.

Friends of Norwich School launched a fundraising campaign in 2017 to restore the Infirmary Doors with an aim of £50,000. They introduced a Creative Writing Competition, open to all fourth form, where the pupils had to write a piece surrounding the Infirmary Doors.

On Monday 2nd July, hundreds of school pupils from across Norfolk gathered at Norwich Cathedral for the fifth annual Norfolk Children’s Book Festival, hosted by Norwich School. Winners of the 500-word Creative Writing Competition were announced.

The whole of Norwich School Upper 4 pupils met on Friday 15th June to talk about this year's Carnegie Award shortlisted books.

Norwich School pupils, Ben Groat, Navaneeth Hari Krishnan (both Lower 5), Alex Walker and Ralph Pye (both Lower 4), represented the school at the National Final of the UKMT Junior Maths Team Challenge on Monday 18th June in London. 
 
The Norwich School team had already won the regional round in order to proceed to the National final in London, and so a tough competition was ahead of them.
