The world-renowned London Mozart Players will be back for their annual concert with the Norwich School Choral Society later this March

Norwich School pupils took to the stage at Norwich Playhouse on 6th February. The evening was celebrating singers and songwriters at the annual school event 'Unplugged'.

The first Making Musician concert of 2020 took place on Thursday 16th January in the South Transept of Norwich Cathedral. Making Musicians is a developmental arts enrichment programme for exceptional musical talent.

Children between the ages of 6-10 had the chance to be a chorister for a day on Saturday 2nd November at an event jointly hosted by Norwich Cathedral and Norwich School. 'Be a Chorister Day' is an annual event for any child in the county who loves to sing!

On Thursday 3rd October, a Making Musicians concert took place in the South Transept of Norwich Cathedral. Norwich School pupil, Alice Palmer, and Dereham Sixth Form College pupil, India Simpson, both sung five pieces each.

The House Shout at St Andrew's Hall brought an uplifting end to the school's annual House Music Festival. 

Throughout the two day festival, musicians performed a variety of pieces, eager to collect points for their respective houses. The Principal Adjudicator this year was Thomas Hewitt Jones, an award-winning composer of contemporary classical and commercial music. Winner of the 2003 BBC Young Composer Competition, his music has been published by Boosey & Hawkes among many others.

On Monday 17th June, musicians from throughout the senior school gathered in the Chapel to take part in the annual Deveson Music Prize. The competition is for instrumentalists and singers and there were some outstanding performances, with pupils performing a wide variety of pieces.

The guest adjudicator was Stacey Kurtz Campkin, who has worked in schools and The Royal Opera House in roles which focussed on developing music in the community.  Her current role is Head of Aldeburgh Young Musicians.

Norwich School pupils Bethan Callow (flute) and Arjuna Puvanachandra (trombone) performed in the South Transept of Norwich Cathedral as part of the Making Musicians developmental arts enrichment programme last week.

On Sunday 19th May, Intermediate Concert Band were invited to play at the Bishop's Garden Open Event in aid of Save the Children.

Joanna Asher (Bassoon) and Adam Chillingworth (Organ) performed at the developmental arts enrichment programme Making Musicians concert in the South Transept of Norwich Cathedral on Thursday 16th May.

Last week, 21 pupils from Norwich School's Creative Writing group Writers' Bloc and the music department had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit Coldplay's studio and HQ in London.

On Saturday 3rd March, Norwich School Choral society performed with the London Mozart Players (the UK's first chamber orchestra) in a memorable concert at St. Andrew's Hall. Several Norwich School pupils were given the unique opportunity to take part, and for the first time, advanced instrumentalists and singers from other local schools were also invited to play and sing in the event.

Following a recent audition on her cello, Colette Maxwell-Preston L4P has gained a place in the Under 12s National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain.

Norwich School Choral Society and the internationally renowned chamber orchestra London Mozart Players will be performing at a concert in St. Andrew;s Hall on Sunday 3rd March at 7,30pm. Tickets are free to U21s.

The 26th Norfolk Young Musician Competition took place on Sunday 13th January, at the John Innes Centre.

Congratulations to pupil, Jonathan Jolly (U6S), on being commended in the senior section of the Choir Schools Association (CSA) Centenary Composition Competition 2018. 

This year’s competition celebrated the CSA centenary and remembered the many choristers who served and sacrificed their lives during WW1. It was opened up to all pupils and choristers at choir schools and in cathedral choirs belonging to CSA and also saw the introduction of a new category for children aged 14-18.

On Wednesday 10th October, thirty two members of the school's Chapel Choir travelled to London to sing for the annual Dyers' Service at St James Garlickhythe in the City of London.
