Norwich School Boat Club puts in some very successful performances at a very windy Peterborough Regatta bringing home medals on both days of the competition weekend.

It was a busy weekend for sport across the country, including the first of the East Anglian League Cross Country fixtures, which took place on Saturday afternoon at Gresham’s.

Ten pupils have qualified to represent Norfolk at the Anglian Schools Cross Country Championship event in Boston, Lincolnshire on 1st February 2020.

Norwich School has again been placed above all other independent schools in Norfolk and Suffolk in the annual Parent Power Schools Guide, published by The Sunday Times at the weekend. The guide lists the highest-achieving secondary schools in the UK and is particularly respected because it combines performance at both GCSE and A Level. It also compares performance from year to year to give an indication of consistency over time and it incorporates remarks to iron out anomalies from results day.

The Cricketer magazine has named Norwich School as one of the top 100 Senior Schools in its Schools Guide 2020. The guide features the top 100 senior schools in a bumper 124-page supplement.

It was a wet autumnal day in Bedford on Sunday 13th October for the annual small boats head on the River Great Ouse. Every member got to race twice on the 1900m course and some were fortunate to race three times in their soggy kit but such was the good camaraderie and team spirit, the conditions didn’t hamper the performance.

Norwich School sailors completed a hat-trick of wins at the Itchenor Schools Sailing week 2019.

The school's elite athletes have had a busy few days, with the East Prep Schools Championships in Bedford on Friday, followed by the Norfolk Schools Championships at UEA on Saturday. In Bedford, the junior athletes had to cope with adverse weather conditions which saw some events cancelled, but this didn't stop them recording our best ever set of results, with 3 wins, and 4 athletes qualifying for 6 different events at the national finals.

12 Norwich School Senior boys travelled to Belgium in May, on a quest to get as much race experience as possible on the 2000m multi-lane course at the 100th Ghent International Regatta.

In April, 40 children from schools across Norfolk gathered on a cool, windy day at Eaton Golf Club for the Norfolk Schools Golf Championships. Norwich School was represented by Harvey Fisher, Joe Ford and George Somerville.

On Saturday the 12 May, Norwich School J14 girls and J14, 15 and 16 boys competed at Bedford Regatta. With the race programmes spanning 11 hours, the crews raced throughout the day. There was some tremendous racing from across the squads, with many pupils racing multiple times throughout the day, some as much as 7.  The day was also the first experience of side by side racing for our keen J14 boys and girls.

On Sunday 12th May, 28 skiers from both the Lower and Senior schools took part in the Eastern Region Ski Association School Championships, held in Ipswich. This was one of the biggest entries the school has put in, with 8 teams across 12 year groups representing Norwich School.

Over Easter, the Norwich School Boat Club travelled to Brive, France to take part in their annual training camp. With Nationals just around the corner, it was the perfect opportunity for all crews to gain vital time on still water and to develop as a squad. Pupil, Kit Whitaker (M5R) reports on the trip.

Norwich School pupil, Perry Cooke, is currently in his first year of National Hot Rod racing. He is the youngest driver in this formula, competing against much older men, with lots of experience.
