1st XI Girls Hockey narrowly lose Regional Final

16 October 2017

The 1st XI hockey team were superb last week at the UEA regionals but narrowly lost out in the final. The girls were full of confidence going into the tournament after scoring 45 goals since September the 1st and their first match against Sevenoaks was won 1-0.

They followed this up with a stylish 2-1 win against Coopers Co and Coborn.

The final match in the group was against a very good Queenswood side. Despite taking the lead, Queenswood fought back and to draw the match 1-1. This meant that both sides finished on 7 points but as Norwich School had scored 1 fewer goals, they finished 2nd in the group.

A final vs Framlingham College, who last year finished 3rd in the Country, awaited the girls. They knew they had to win in order for to progress and after a positive team talk, the team were ready. They battled hard and played some incredible hockey but unfortunately lost 1-0 to a very good side.

The margins between winning and losing in these tournaments are tight. This is a fantastic group of players who should be commended on their commitment, skill and performance. They are playing a really exciting brand of hockey and are getting better with each week.

They may not have won the final but proved that they are up there with the top few teams in the East. Players of the tournament were Rosy Valentine and Aoife Lowe Davies.
