Norwich School Dance Company Learns Some New Skills at a Circus Skills Workshop

"Last Friday the Norwich School Dance Company attended a circus skills workshop at Oak Circus Centre. The building was really cool; a church that had been converted into a fun and exciting circus skills area. The staff started off by doing a grueling warmup to get us ready to conquer the challenges they had planned for us.

After the warmup, we split into two groups to start the skills. One group started on the main floor doing handstands and headstands and learning how to get up properly. Meanwhile the other group were upstairs on the air track doing fun tricks such as cartwheels round offs and even more. After lunch we started to do some tightrope and the wire where our balance skills were put to the test. Then we moved on to the silk and the trapeze, where we learned how to flip over, under and around the equipment – we attempted some pretty nerve-wracking drops on the silks!

It was such a fun and exciting day for us all in the company, we learnt so many new tricks and really bonded as a group. A very big thank you to Oak Circus Centre and Miss Hacking for organizing this day out!
